My name is Kara Larter and I am an OB/GYN Registered Nurse (RN) and a Doctor of Nursing Program (DNP) Women’s Health Nurse Practitioner student at Arizona State University. I created this blog as a part of my DNP 711 Health Policy & Innovation class. While working as an RN within a high-risk OB department over the last 7 years I have encountered the devastating reality of women passing away following the delivery of their baby. This experience has led me to want to increase my knowledge on the topic so I can provide the highest quality care for my future patients. I hope the information I share over the semester will serve to raise awareness of this national problem and I invite you to also share your thoughts and stories with me.
